about us

Although a small farming community like Plum City, WI may be an unlikely place to find a Mediterranean kitchen, Nettie’s Volta has found a cozy corner of the small town to call home. Bringing a variety of creative dishes and a fine-dining experience to the community.

Established in 2023, Dave Kerr opened the doors to a new and otherwise foreign concept of a restaurant right on Main Street in Plum City. Since opening, Nettie’s Volta has found that being located in a farming community is actually quite beneficial. Most of the fresh ingredients used in the dishes are either locally foraged or obtained from farmers in the area, thus continuously supporting the community and sharing the delights of local producers with customers that come to dine from far and wide.

Our Location

One of the things that makes Nettie’s Volta so special is the building that we are located in. Originally the Plum City State Bank, this building still holds much of the original character from when it was built in 1901. From the mosaic tiling on the floor to the large vault door, our dining room still holds signs of the rich history of Plum City. When you come and dine with us, take a look around and see what details you can spot.

There are multiple plants, some on shelves and others in pots, and a black piano against the wall. Ceiling fans hang from the ceiling.

From a very young age, Dave Kerr developed a passion for culinary expression. Growing up in western Wisconsin on a family farm, he was inspired to cook by helping his Sicilian grandmother in the kitchen. He learned early on that food could be much more than just a plate of ingredients.

Shortly after graduating high school, Dave headed out to California and spent a good chunk of time honing his skills as a chef on charter boats. Around the year 2017, he decided to come back to the area and had the opportunity to work under several well-known regional chefs.

He eventually decided to open his own restaurant and settled closer to home in the small, rural town of Plum City, WI. Opening a restaurant allows his own space to express his individual creation in the dishes he serves and founded a unique space for dining. The area was also a perfect location for Dave to combine his love of the outdoors and cuisine. Foraging local ingredients and sitting in the heart of farm country, there is an uncommon opportunity to use fresh, local ingredients and support the community that he’s a part of.
